After four years of studying at college, what do we expect to find in our students in terms of qualifications, scientific knowledge in their specialization or even their abilities and skills?
It's obvious that those graduates are first looking for job to apply what they learn and to learn what they didn't, thereby receive salary. Then, a new experience comes to their mind which alarm them to make tomorrow better through integration of science, attitude and bright hope.
What the Bologna declaration, first signed by 29 countries in 1999, says about ”the first cycle” of higher education, is that this at least 3-year education level, often called ”bachelor”, should enable the graduate to be able either enter the work market or continue studies at the masters level. The first cycle should be ”relevant to the labour market” according to the declaration, now signed by 48 countries. After a graduation degree, most people want to get a good job with a decent salary. Graduate employers place a lot of emphasis on finding candidates with the right skills and competencies for their organisations. Depending on the career sector and profession you choose to work in, there could be very specific skills, abilities and knowledge needed to do the job.
Commercial awareness (or business acumen), Communication, Teamwork, Negotiation and persuasion, Leadership, Ability to work under pressure - these are the qualities expected by the company from a graduate.
