I am trying to find out how marble slurry effects the tool wear. Can some one suggest me papers where i can find out the relation influencing the tool wear due to marble slurry while machining
Hey daniel good to hear from you. I have been working of development of tools for marbles. I am trying to find out relation that how the slurry generated from marbles while machining would effect the tool wear rate.
The slurry viscosity can be varied by controlling the cooling rate/quantity. i am trying to find out how this would effect the tool wear.
I think that you can use similar techniques than machining metals processes. Basically the idea is to measure wear over the cutting edge, dependant of time. Then, you can modify the cutting conditions and see how the marble slurry affect the wear.
How are you machining the marble? With diamond impregnated segments or a polycrystalline diamond defined cutting edge? The answer to your question is highly dependent on the tool type and the method of material removal.
