Can any body please tell me, what are the dimensions of a micro strip line circular patch antenna at 8.5GHz and what are the design equations to be followed?
Why don't you find the input impedance of the circular patch and impedance match to a microstrip feed line with a quarter wave transformer? For this, first design the circular patch using the equations below:
DESIGN PROCEDURE:
1. Specify er, fr (in Hz ), and h (in cm).
2. Determine the actual radius a of the patch.
a = F/({1+(2h/(pi*er*F)[ln(pi*F)+1.7726]}^1/2).
where F = (8.791*(10^9))/(fr*sqrt(er))
, then impedance match it to a microstrip feed line with the help of a quarter wave transformer. The width and length of the microstrip feed line has to be equal to the port impedance of 50 Ohms.
