You can find a wealth of information on this topic at The Cancer Imaging Archive: http://www.cancerimagingarchive.net/.  In addition there are a ton of freely accessible lung CT images you can download, as well as expert-derived manual segmentations in many cases so you can try out your algorithms to see how they compare.  I think the LIDC-IDRI data set would be of particular interest to you.  It contains ~1,000 patients of lung CT data as well as 3d segmentations generated by multiple radiologists.
