Which difference is normal between force measurement of new cutting edge and the same cutting edge but used? What percentage increase is the limit percentage?
The only way to establish the percentage of increase in cutting forces between machining with a sharp tool and an already used one is to conduct an experiment. The percentage of forces increase depends on the materials involved, dry or wet machining, equipment conditions and cutting conditions.
I made drilling testing with HSS twist drill over austenitic stainless steel. In this case, when the feed force increase 15% or more, the edge dont be cut one drill more.
Comment: There are more important factors than the forces, i.e. tool wear. surface finish and accuracy. It is always important to refer to the couple- Tool material and workpiece material. As for the operation to conduct the experiment I suggest to follow ISO standard "Testing with single point tool"-Turning or Milling, both standards are very detailed and easy to follow. Good luck!
