Conventional quality parameters of cattle manure are judged by physical rather than chemical procedures. Color, water content, state of decomposition, test by feeling, etc are some parameters, but these are not modern techniques & improved ones.

Are important physical properties, but most important are chemical. These main features intake nutritive elements that brings cattle manure.
Its nutrient content apart from a desirable texture are what should go into knowing the quality of manure, per se.
moisture, level of decomposition and free from stones, sand and polyethelene materials should account for a quality cattle manure.
Presence of non decomposable materials in compost like stone, polythene etc disqualify the compost for use. Ambient moisture is required in compost to thrive beneficial microbes and stage of decomposition is that it should be fully decomposition stage. Otherwise use of partially decomposed compost invites number of harmful insects in the field.
