Part of my research involves analyzing environmental impacts of construction materials including C&D waste in Himalayan region cities (say Thimphu, Darjeeling etc).
So far, I am unable to find studies on C&D waste management in these cities or any similar cities. Does anyone know about studies to examine C&D materials management in urban areas in developing countries, and more precisely in eco-sensitive regions?

You should be concerned with leachate (liner would be ideal) and hydrogen sulfide production.
Well, it is really difficult as there are too less references. My suggestion is to refer to those publications related to C&D waste management in remote area, instead of only focusing on hilly areas. I think that the major challenges of C&D waste management in both hilly and remote areas are illegal dumping and open burning. So, studies on waste management in remote areas may provide you useful insight for your study on hilly areas as well. There are some guidelines and report on waste management in remote areas, as attached, hope they are of useful to you.
It lead to some disasters like flooding this could as result of blockage of drainage systems. animals and plants in such areas cold increase due to the materials found in construction waste. Plant could have stunted growth,animals may go into extinction or migrate from such areas. it could also impact the health of human if the water and soil is contaminated.

It is best to reuse the waste back into the construction process as some of the developed countries do. The usage can be for non structural means such as for pavements, compound walls, etc.
