Addressing these challenges requires a multifaceted approach that integrates clinical expertise, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered care. Here are some of the key challenges faced by anaesthesiologists in the management of chronic pain and strategies to address them:

Diagnostic Complexity: Chronic pain conditions often have multifactorial etiologies and can present with diverse symptomatology, making diagnosis and treatment challenging. Anaesthesiologists must conduct thorough assessments, including comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, to accurately identify the underlying causes of pain. Collaboration with other specialists, such as neurologists, rheumatologists, and physiatrists, can help facilitate accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment plans.

Treatment Resistance and Refractory Pain: Some patients with chronic pain may not respond adequately to conventional pharmacological and interventional treatments, leading to treatment resistance and refractory pain.
