I intend to research on this topic as I have a keen interest in internationalization and entry mode. However, most researches are done on developed countries making it saturated even the emerging markets researched are the (BRIC) leaving out Africa as a continent and this is a research gap to me because few works have been done on Africa especially the challenges. In the course of trying to formulate the research problem, I could not find sufficient articles to formulate the research problem. I would like to know if this is a good topic to work on and also get suggestions on research topics concerning my interest.

Favour Olugbenro , your topic is very interesting. What you have to know is that considering Africa as one, is a bad choice. This is due to the fact that even in Africa, there is difference in terms opportunity and have different level of devepment. Lets' give you an example. Burundi and Rwanda are very close countries, sharing same language, culture, same area,etc. but when you look at the development level, there is a big difference. When you look at the report of doing business 2020, Burundi is at 166 position while Rwanda is at 38 position.
I advice you to choose some African countries that have something in common and try to see threats and opportunities they have.

This reason is that Swedish firms enter different African markets and the challenges differ so I cannot specify which challenge they face. What do you suggest? Niyungeko Antoine
Favour, the changes multinational face in investing in Africa are various: corruption, low wages reducing demand, energy problems, infrastructures, cultural, local competencies, long administrtive procedures, transport problems, inflation, exchage rate, country risk, etc. But thse problems must be analyzed case by cas.
you can add on those, political instability, security problems,low purchase power ,etc
I believe that it is an excellent research topic. You are correct that the topic is totally under researched in respect of Africa. My suggestion with regard to literature would be to start with literature on entry strategies into emerging markets. In this body of literature you will find pointers that may be useful to determine what aspect you want to focus on. Secondly I agree with the suggestion that you have to narrow it down to a country or region (this you must consider carefully). I trust that is of some help.
