Male 18 had stretch marks or striae distansae on his trunk and abdomen following treatment for guttate psoriasis with steroids by a dermatologist. He attended for treatment with Wrightia tinctoria extract.
Dear Thammayya , Blashko lines are lines of cleavage of skin which naive and dermatosis follow, while linear psoriasis is well demarcated silver scaly salmon pink plaques in a linear pattern, as regards linear focal elastosis is a sort of atrophoderma a CT degeneration while stretch marks (Striae) are a form of scarring on the skin with an off-color hue. Over time they may diminish, but will not disappear completely.
This is interesting. I am curious to know if these marks are blanching? The different orientations of the lesions are curious. The onset post steroid rx could suggest a steroid effect, but could also be due to immune suppression with resultant unmasking of an underlying infectious agent, like Bartonella, as suggested...leading to bacillary angiomatosis. Intriguing problem. Is there reason to biopsy a lesion? Investigate for Bartonella spp?
Beatrice Szantyr, Interesting answer. We examine cases of psoriasis which were not responsive to treatment with chemicals i.e. steroids, methotrexate and the like and others. Further investigations are beyond our scope. We often receive cases of stretch marks, linear psoriasis and others.
