Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) acquire brain signals and provide an interface to analyze them. BCIs then can translate brain signals into commands that are relayed to output devices that carry out desired actions. Another usage of these interfaces is to detect emotions of users.

What are the best tools for Brain Computer Interface and Physiological Signals based Emotion and Cognitive State Recognition?
The hot topic today is called hybrid BCIs which are typically the combinations of BCIs with a wide range of assistive devices (ADs).
Eye tracking systems, remote computerized controllers for specific sensors, and more importantly EEG (working with Open-ViBE for instance) are among such uses for hBCIs.
There are many BCI pieces of software such as BCI2000, rtsBCI, etc.
The Body Language Framework (BF++) is a real-time set of C++ software libraries which implements the BCI dynamic model described in :

Open BCI is a good tool as well as you can also use EEGLab for Matlab, and also use the LSL (live streaming lab) for multiple recordings an d analysis.
