Actually I think the best EM simulator for FDTD is CST Microwave studio because:

1. It is very simple to be used

2. Its transient solver is a native time solver and a Fourier transform like HFSS T-solver.

3. It is very quick compared to other EM simulators.

I advice to do several simulations with CST MWS and then to validate them by HFSS.

Hi Aman,

Lumerical FDTD solutions is also a very promising software for performing FDTD simulations. It also offers a 30 day trial before purchase which you can avail from their webiste

I've been using Remcom XFdtd for a coupe of years now. It is more streamlined than CST, at least as fast and can run on consumer GPUs (e.g. you can buy a cheap gaming graphics card and accelerate your simulations with it). Also it is much cheaper than CST, if that is an issue.

I would recommend also CST-MWS and Lumerical

CST is preferred over other EM solvers for carrying out various electromagnetic simulations as it comes with fast, accurate and convenient analysis of complex structures under different frequency regimes.
