Basic condition is best condition for synthesis for chalcones.Benzaldehyde (0.01 mol) and acetophenone (0.01 mol) dissolve in ethanol . Aqueous KOH (40% 10 ml) was added drop wise with stirring. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature and kept overnight in a bulb oven at room temperature. After 14-16 hr, the reaction mixture was neutralised by adding dil.HCl. And also prepared by using green methodology like grinding technique.
A solution of potassium hydroxide (5%, 10 ml) is added slowly to a
mixture of ketone (0.01 mol) and substituted benzaldehydes (0.01 mol) in ethanol (50 ml) . The mixture is stirred for 6 h. when is observed the formation of the precipitated solid, then the precipited is filtered, and washed with water, dried and recrystallized from ethanol. OBS: To the formation of precipited solid you can put in freezer.
