Collaboration is a vital ingredient in scientific enterprise. Two good heads are better than one. No wonder, a good research work relies on peer review mechanism such. reviewers' comments, editors' decisions, post-publication reviewers and efforts of all who partake in research work, contribute to the quality of research output.
How much more, when we have more than one author of sound mind and requisite knowledge, reviewers and others peer reviewers have less trouble adding their values to the quality of research output.
Academic and research collaboration is a very valuable tool that not only accelerates the progress but also enhances the quality of the work and extends the repertoire of the partners. Academic collaboration is beneficial to the faculty in learning new teaching tools, and to the students in increasing the breadth of their knowledge and learning different approaches to solving a problem.
Collaborations are very important to share experiences, learn new ideas and strengthen multidisciplinary approach to solve the many problems of the world.
Liberalism in the present-day academia has one great disadvantage: it follows the money, very big money. Cooperation and open source scholarship are the sole instruments of diligent scholars in developing countries to catch up with advanced knowledge in their fields.
In the field of molecular biology and epigenetics I know the best, it is almost impossible to progress at a steady pace without collaborating with other groups (they may have techniques you do not have such as mass spectroscopy or X ray diffraction studies) . This is especially true for small teams!!!
My program of research requires a multidisciplinary collaboration between nursing workforce research and industrial engineering (mathematical programming), leading us to generate a new knoweldege that does not exist in literarure before. Also, such a multidisciplinary collaboration tends to increase citations of the paper because each author promotes the paper at the multi-sites.
Dear: sikandar Khan The benefits of academic and research cooperation can be summed up in several points: 1 - Acquiring expertise and information 2 - Transfer of different knowledge 3 - Distribution of tasks to the team and thus shorter time and effort 4 - Reduce costs by allocating the total costs to the members of the team Necessary for conducting research, study or publication fees because some research is very expensive, "and some magazines have very high publishing fees," in addition to that the research will be highly attentive through the experiences gained by the research team members.
