Proximate analysis is itself an estimation of properties like Moisture content, volatile matter, ash content and Fixed carbon and this can be done simply in hot air oven and muffle furnace. if you want to analyse the mass loss of biomass with temperature and time then you can go for TGA. Whereas elemental composition can be estimated by EDS and chemical compounds present on the surface would be estimated by XRD. So its depends on you study that what exactly you want to study or analyse in your sample. Along-with it the ultimate analysis is also should be done.

I left the ultimate analysis because it relates more when dealing with fuel application just as LOC is relevant there.
