There are several things to be considered, by means of physical chemical and biological means, to increase the production of bio-gas anaerobically. I wish to know some of the important things to be considered to increase the production level.
I assume effluent means the substrate is lvery liquid and mechanical pretreatment is not neccessary. Then I would look at the biology: is there sufficient retention time? Enough nutrients for the bacteria?
The pure effluent may be deficient in NPK or trace elements.
But: we have yout to build a pure refinery effleunt plant, so I'm interested in others' answer also.
Hi, I would like to add some also...as Martin said, microbial selection, pH & temperature of reactor, nutrients, and HRT is quite important factors. ur microbial population is sensitive to ph, nutrients and Temp...so, finding an optimal conditions could be the key. one more thing is selection of reactor type with its feed flow direction, supporting media is also a factor to be considered. downflow and upflow anaerobic reactors have been studied and their efficiency varies...so is the case with feed flow direction. supporting media/packing material directly influence the microbial population and u don't want to stress them either, so find some better packing materials for reactor. a lot has been studied so i think u can easily optimize the performance of reactor and subsequently biogas production.
