In my experiments, addition TEA to the PVP-HDA solution results in undesirably fast emulsification. Any alternative catalytic base can be used instead?
I Feel Same TEA is best., you just reduce the concentration of TEA means you wont get this problem. same reaction i have did without any problem. what's the temperature..
From a cost and reactivity basis, TEA is best. Trifunctional reagents are rare. I agree,lower the concentration to prevent emulsion formation.
Interesting bases for organocatalysis are also DBU and piperidine, you can test these for your crosslinking reaction.
As others suggested stick to TEA. However, you may add it dropwise or you may change solvent. Other bases are pyridine, NaOH. etc.
I thought of pyridine. With respect to TEA, I have to dilute it prior to addition as it is quite viscous and adding uL of it emulsified the solution.
