Hello sir, AI can be a great assistant for researchers. It helps with tasks like summarizing literature, generating citations, spotting trends in data, and even refining language. Tools like GPT-based models can draft sections of a paper or suggest edits, saving time and effort. But relying too much on AI can dilute originality. If we let AI write entire sections without oversight, the depth of critical thinking and authenticity could take a hit. Plus, ethical concerns arise, like plagiarism or misrepresentation of data, if the AI isn’t used responsibly.
In short, AI should complement human effort, not replace it. It’s a tool to boost productivity and enhance quality, but the soul of research—curiosity, analysis, and innovation—will always need the human touch.
I agree with Dr. Kumawat. Using AI to write research papers is frought with problems. AI can often hallucinate by including information that is incorrect or completely made up. For example, when several of my students used AI to write a paper for my course, their reference lists included journal articles that literally did not exist (the journals existed, but the articles did not).
AI can be very useful for helping you come up with ideas for your research, for outlining and organizing papers, helping to summarize existing literature (if you give it the actual papers so it doesn't make them up!), editing, checking grammar, and so on. But it should not be used to write an original paper as there is too much risk of error.
There is also another issue. If you use AI to write a paper and then submit it under your own name, you are claiming authorship of material you did not write. This is unethical - most professional organizations codes of ethics specifically prohibit this.
Research itself means Re-searching the existing and also to explore new forms. When using AI for research writing I understand the only tool beneficial is the paraphrasing, only to get away with the plagiarism %. The drafting and the analytical part can definitely go Hayward as it just collects the keywords to assimilate and present your material and many a times non-existent. AI for report writing therefore deceives for the problem subject specific and as a result the result and conclusion null and void. Not that this is a traditional outlook but limiting to necessity can improve research acumen of the individual scholar. This eg: may fit this statement extensive use of a calculator can result under perform calculation without it.
