Dear RG-Community,
I have been reading about the application of drones (fixed wing, multi-copter) in ecology, conservation and precision agriculture for a while now. Also I tried to have some conversations with farm managers and drone experts. I am wondering what the advantages of drones in precision agriculture over ground based assessments are? It would be great to have some numbers. Most of the published work uses vague terms (e.g. cheaper, faster, easier...). I would like to read about or discuss some facts. Under which conditions is the use of RPAS "better"? How much would I pay to have the same work/assessment done by an expert on the ground?
I am aware that it might be difficult to provide an exact answer to my question but it would be great if this question could be discussed from as many perspectives as possible.
Thanks!
Rene
