I think, it is more important than choosing a method to choose the appropriate parameters for object tracking. (e.g. update time, beam accuracy in each direction, observation accuracy, ...)

but in general, you can use different methods like travelling salesman problem, adaptive methods (read adaptive beam allocation methods)
