Dear Expertise,

I have a facing a problem in the "combination of the D numbers." The example provided in a paper entitled "Environmental impact assessment based on D numbers" by Deng are given below. Can anyone give the solution of the provided example with proper steps ?

Thanks in advance

Example 4 (Deng et al. 2014)

D1 = {(0,0.7), (1,0.3)}

D2= {(0,0.6), (1,0.4)}

The combination of D1 and D2 using the above equations

D= {(0.0,0.325), (0.5,0.50), (1,0.175)}

My questions are:

1. How we come with three elements in the combination of two D numbers?

2. Please explain the steps of combination using this example

Deng, X., Hu, Y., Deng, Y., Mahadevan, S., 2014. Environmental impact assessment based on D numbers. Expert Syst. Appl. 41 (2), 635–643.
