What are some of the causes of image cross-talk in metasurface holograms?

Cross-talk of images in Multiplexed metasurface holograms reduces their storage capacity. I am wondering, what causes the cross-talk? does it depend on the fabrication technique used or is it the pixel resolution of the metasurface? Any idea is welcome.
