Government schools have recently become open to research among school students provided the research is acceptable to the administration. Can you suggest some topics of current relevance for research among this population?
Working with solar energy may be valuable to school students as a research topic. Students will learn about electronics, circuit building, photonics, PV cells, etc.
One topic that would be particularly interesting and important, and directly relevant for children would be attitudes towards the environment, peoples behaviour with single-use plastics, with regard to electricity use, carbon emissions etc.
I do not know the field you want to focus on, but both investigative and developmental research is interesting for the students. I usually try to visualize the boundaries or areas acceptable for research. The next step is to ask the students what they associate with the chosen area in focus. How do they see this in relation to their own everyday lives. Life relevant investigative and developmental research within the needs, interests, wishes and dreams of the students generates a lot of motivational energy. Sustainability can be one such example. I would ask: What are your concernes related to sustainability? Can you give me an example from your everyday life? Would you like to do something about it? (Developmental research) - or - Would you like to explore the problems and challenges? (Investigative research). Participation, relevance, meaning and passion are keywords for success. I can recommend the strategies of Jean McNiff «Writing and Doing Action Research» (Action Research and Developmental Work).
I think we can improve the ability of our students by providing them with the principle of our holy religion, and renew all our books which compliance with the right thoughts.
