I wanna know if there are study about the antiviral action against the EHA ebola virus of natural remedies, maybe essential oil of thyme (thymus vulgaris) ct a thymol, essential oil of ajowan, essential oil of cynnamomum verum (extract from leaves), essential oil of ocymum basilicum (ct a methyl-chavicolo), essential oil of origanum compactum, essential oil of eugenia caryiophyllata can be useful about, since they have a very high phenolyc % if they are chechek with gas-cromatography and mass spectrometry combined!
Interesting thought. I am not sure how phenols could interfere in the viral life cycle during clinical disease. They might be beneficial in infection control measures!?
None of the available current therapeutics is "naturally" based (excluding antibody cocktails and vaccines). Other than vaccines which could offer (protection), and maybe post exposure prophylaxis (window of 2 hours), the other agents aim to increase such a window further to include the period when symptoms and viraemia develop. still not enough evidence on effectiveness when the infection is full blown.

Antibody based therapies such as MB-003 (ZMapp), now being hailed as saviour therapy by media.
Many natural and even synthetic products work well in laboratory experiments. When animals or humans use these products the same levels of compounds may not be achieved in the target plasma or cells due to metabolism. Toxicity issues to another critical issue. The time factor of a short time at high dose rates or a long time at lower dose rates is often not considered.
In general natural compounds or synthetic compounds not covered by patents do not always get the necessary funding to run the clinical trials.
In cases like this I always look at the Toxicity issues first to guide any animal or human experiments. Scientists have often started experiments on themselves first.
