For more theoretical aspects have a look at my article:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/293653270_ON_INTERNATIONALIZATION_I18N
However, I recommand looking at Internationalization from the perspective of the GILT (Globalization, Internationalization, Localization, Translation) processes. Authors I strongly recommend: Anthony Pym(several articles and books), Miguel Jiménez-Crespo (practical book and articleshttp://translation.rutgers.edu/faculty-staff-directory-mainmenu-107/program-director-mainmenu-140 ), Peter Sandrini
If you prefer a more practical approach I suggest benchmarking. Have a look at my article https://www.researchgate.net/publication/293652981_BENCHMARKING_LOCALIZATION_A_CONTENT_MARKETING_PERSPECTIVE
Good luck with your project!

Conference Paper BENCHMARKING LOCALIZATION, A CONTENT MARKETING PERSPECTIVE
Internalization may be focused on mutual academic and research collaboration, Faculty-students exchange programs. However, given the current state of globalization and mobility, it appears that almost every university in the world today might have international Faculty and students. So the use of the term internalization may be somehow ubiquitous.
Internalization mostly means having a diversity of students and faculty members from different countries studying and working in the same institution. In addtion, it may include collaborative research projects with universities from other countries.
In order to reinforce the internationalization of HEIs, several initiatives have been proposed through implementing quality models, which are explained in:
