I am using DPSS continuous wave laser to study Nonlinear optical properties say it Z-scan technique. What else I can research using these sources, I just want to try something new with the available facility. Any answers would be appreciable. Thank you for your ideas in advance..
you can use DPSS with an appropriate power to carry on Raman Spectroscopy, annealing of thin film at a microscopic level, i,e, grain scale, monitoring the growth of a thin film on a substrate, and so on.

I am a babe in the woods, when it comes to lasers. Do I gather correctly that DPSS lasers are tunable over the visible spectrum and beyond? It was once suggested to me that I could use dye lasers instead of the dichroic filters I have used, before later using a variable, grating monochromator with dial divisions at tenths of nanometers. And I am not sure how much more lasers alter crystalline samples than they are altered by visible-light during optical mineralogy. I also wonder whether use of a strong beam of light filtered to bandwidths on the order of 4nm can cause lasing during work like mine. But I am guessing (wrongly?) that you might be able to create an automated laser system to be used in petrography in order to produce probabilistic maps of refractive indices similar to those I have been creating for about a year.
