Driver Behaviour at Unsignalized Intersection in VISSIM. I have been trying to simulate traffic movement at intersection that operates in developing countries where the rules of priority are not followed and even having lesser critical gap values as compared to developed countries.
In VISSIM, you can set (distributions of) a minimum (bumper-to-bumper) time gap mainly used for free traffic, and a minimum distance gap for congested traffic. Basically, if you get more congestion in the simulation than in reality (given the same demand), lower the critical gaps. Furthermore, there are options for "space-oriented" rather than "lane-oriented" driving operations which probably are better suited for traffic flow in developing countries. "No simulation model will work" is a nihilistic and erroneous statement.

You may try with the microscopic traffic flow parameters in VISSIM. A distribution of average gap acceptance by drivers in your study area (related with the site geometry).
