*Note we have aligned some data sources into single views like nervous system connectivity (nif-0000-07732-1), annotations (nlx_149407-1) or research animals (nif-0000-08137-1). These sources envelop other sources and those source ids like BAMS (nif-0000-00018) will respond to the identifiers in the query parameter (q=), but not in the source parameter (/nlx-144509-1).

The easiest solution is to poke around in the website, a list of databases in html here (this list is updated weekly on Fri nights):

The front end depicts what is in services so poking around in there should give you a good idea of what data are available. All things are available, but may have been combined from multiple services for either speed or "user friendliness".
If you would like to go through the back end, we have http://nif-services.neuinfo.org/servicesv1/v1/summary
This gives the total # of records, name and ID, but not a description.
With the ID you can get to the data for each data set and a description from this service:
http://nif-services.neuinfo.org/servicesv1/v1/federation/data/nlx_144509-1?q=nlx_152660
note, you will need to remove the last "-#" in the query parameter (the id after data/nlx_144509-1 is the id of the first view of the nlx_144509 resource, the q= parameter will return data for the source). You can also type in alzheimers or hippocampus in the q= parameter and expect a search for that term in the data available.
All of our services have been built for the REST protocol. The data come out as xml or csv, but the documentation also describes how you can get it in JSON or other formats.
