A book review published in a refereed journal of repute (ABDC classification) is considered good as it ensures that the reviewer has read it ; the cognitive learning enhances knowledge/thinking about the subject.
even writing a chapter in an edited book prepares you for writing a book as the inherent structure is same. It gives potential as already said for writing a books or becoming a co-author.
