I have found several papers mentioning that GDQ exhibit a UV-Vis absorption peak at 320 and several other ones mentioning a shoulder/peak at 270. Is there an explanation for these differences?

Quantized states with energy levels are affected by GDQ size (diameter, linear dimensions, etc.). The smaller the size, the larger energy separation, the shorter the wavelength seen.
Sir, in recommendation to Tsou Sir, I would state that the smaller the size of GQDs, shorter is the exciton absorption maxima wavelength.
