Hello,

Imagine you could have a device capable of producing up to 80-liter volume of plasma with high-density (10^19 to 10^21), high-temperature (1 to 1000 eV) within a cylinder which is about 180 cm tall and has a diameter of 90 cm: what would you do with it?

- A colleague (plasma physics experimental researcher) already proposed to use such device to calibrate various plasma-diagnostics instruments (thomson scattering, interferometry etc.).

- I thought about using it as a plasma cell for laser-plasma acceleration (as in the AWAKE CERN experiment: https://home.cern/science/accelerators/awake)

- Other ideas (not yet verified) are to use it in the context of plasma propulsion research or as an X-ray production machine

What are your thoughts on it? Did you stumble in any problem in your work in research or industry which could be solved with such a device?

Please, let me know in the comments or just contact me via private message.

Cheers,

Tiziano
