Why are you using SS304 mandrel? It would lose its strength at 1000C and also be expensive. Best to use Low Carbon Steel, metalized using WC-Co-Cr alloy wire. The chromium would oxidize at this temperature and the copper powder would not stick.
Also, why use 1000 C, copper powder would oxidize unless you are using a reducing atmosphere. I like to know whether this is your thesis project or just making copper pipe industrially.
I want to produce heat pipe industrially.I sinter under protective atmosphere at 1000C.I do not have enough information about which type of stainless to use.It should be both temperature resistant and non-adhesive to copper sinter.
Would it possible for you tell me what you have done in this project? That is from the start to this date and what equipment you have for this project and how you are handling. If you give me the information then I possible give you some hints where you are wrong and how to correct it. Probably you should have known that sintered heat pipe has a high thermal efficiency for heat transfer electronics cooling.
Any luck finding a method to resolve your issue? I am also looking into fabricating heat pipes and have the same issue. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
