I have designed an UWB antenna. Now going to measure SAR in 6-layer human head. But while analyzing it,my pc get shut down/hanged & it took long time(don't end...).Now I am using HFSS v13 software. Is there any solution?
Although increasing the processing power available to you, as mentioned above is a logical solution which can even include networking the computers it may not be an available option. Equivalent models of human head, even circuit models can be found in literature, so try to simplify the problem to decrease the computation required. You can get the radiated power of the antenna in one simulation. Use it as an input to the human head in the second simulation. Sharing on the basis of my 28 years experience, majority of EM problems in real world are too complex to be simulated through 3D EM software. So you have to break them down into smaller partitions and use equivalent simplified models. We cannot keep switching to higher end computers every now and then when a new or more complex problem is encountered.
Increasing RAM or using i7 computer etc may not solve a particular problem is we do not take care other things. It is better to follow this procedure first.
1) While using HFSS, open task manager any close unnecessary programmes. For windows XP, min process = 24-26 and for Windows 7, min process = 30-32. If your no of running process is 50, then 18-20 no of processes are unnecessary. Close those processes.
2. After that, open HFSS. Run your simulation. Observe no of tetrahedrons. From the beginning, do not use fine tuning process. Avoid unncessary objects, reduce rad box etc etc.
3. Try to reduce no of tetrahedrons = 50-60 thousand.
4. If still you face the problem, please increase the delta s from 0.02 to 0.1, 0.2 and so on. first obtain a results then go for fine tuning.
5. After following this process, if you think, this is the final geometry, then make delta s = 0.02 and do other fine tunings. We are waiting for your kind response..
