Translocation of biopolymers (such as DNA) through nanopores is an active research topic, with potential to revolutionize DNA sequencing. From a theoretical point of view translocation presents a most challenging problem, because it involves a many-particle system far from equilibrium. After hundreds of papers on this topic, a consistent theory of polymer translocation has been developed based on the tension progagation idea of T. Sakaue. The preprint is at http://arxiv.org/abs/1111.4782.
