Dear all,
Does any body know of a study which explicitly quantifies the contribution of vehicle emissions to urban air pollution levels?
I am specifically interested in NOx and NO2. What I am after is a study that for e.g. says that 60% of NOx in a city is due to traffic/vehicle emissions.

The German Bundesumweltamt regularly publishes NOx Emissions by source. Please note, this is not a specific analysis for an urban location, but the general picture for Germany.
Ingo, how do we have to modify this to take into account the dieselgate Nox emissions missing :) ?
Mexico City has several studies, some available on it's website, Air Quality in the Mexico Megacity: An Integrated Assessment by Mario and Luisa Molina, MIT 2003 is a classical study on this topic.
M. Robichaud. Good question. I can't say how the data was derived (top down or bottom up). But I'd say fleet emissions have been evaluated regularly using measurements in road tunnels. That there were differences between test rig emissions and on-road emissions isn't news.

Really this depends on the area of the project. The contribution of major pollutant sources may vary from one locality to another. Fleet emissions are dependent on vehicular flow volumes while other stationary sources vary. Livestock like cows also contribute some methane . Therefore , not all the carbon in the air comes from mobile automobile sources . Thanks
