Today, many European countries are suffering under the European crisis, and I think that it could mean a crisis for education, agriculture and forestry in Europe. What is your opinion?
I would argue the opposite. I meet a lot of teachers who are unable to give their students the education they would like them to have simply because there is not enough money in the pot. I volunteer with mainly primary schools (ages 5-12) and we do hands on practical exercises to give the kids confidence in the outdoor environment. If we didn't do this, no-one else would, and even then from my point of view it is never enough.
Cut backs and changes in the way children are taught have made it extremely challenging in Scotland and we are seeing increasing numbers of teenagers leaving school unable to read or write. I would argue that just because these children are a challenge to teach, it doesn't mean we should write them off simply because politicians fail to understand the gravity of poor resource allocation. We should ring fence finance for these students as literacy issues cause even greater harm in adulthood and place much greater burdens on the welfare state.
1. (1-5) stanrard the students can easly learn in the campus or near by home or in nausary or permission givennon-governmental organizations where is they will not take much fee or a volunteer fee.
Details see below:
International Volunteer Day (IVD)- (December 5) is an international observance designated by the United Nations since 1985. It offers an opportunity for volunteer organizations and individual volunteers to make visible their contributions - at local, national and international levels - to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
The International Volunteer Day is marked by many non-governmental organizations, including Red Cross, scouts and others. It is also marked and supported by United Nations Volunteers.
2. Education must be useful and job or enterpreneur oriented, otherwise future of any country of will suffer.
3. In India students will will take their primary decesion at 10th class i.e. he/she will decide to choose Science-Commerce-Computer-Arts( three ways) and secondary decision ar 12th class i.e. he or she will decide to opt for Engineering( approximately 32 branches) or Para Medical and Medical. People make think that this is correct, can we modify or improve or revise this for this new generation.
Solution for point 3:The most significant that goverment should create many more courses/specilization:
i) FIRST DECISION can be shift from 10th class to 7th class[ +3 year and get job diploma course or financial support to start petty business]
ii) SECOND DECISION can be shift from 12th class to 10th class [2+Hgher Diploma Job +3 Degree Level Job]
iii) THIRD DECISION at 12th class [earn and learni.e college can take work from the student and teach the course no fee for the same]
i, ii, iii are necessary conditions and there much more sufficient points may be there.
Iam very sorry to say that, every human being on this earth shoud get the education, if somebody is not getting an apportunity to become an educated person, then it the reposibility of the educated people.
There is undoubtedly a negative effect of crisis in education. Severe education budget cuts cannot be done without negative effects. And such cuts have happened in many European countries. Graduate numbers have increased because of Bologna Agreement and requirements to meet the 2020 Agenda while jobs creation was, to put-it mildly, slower.
Keep in mind Europe's education is not as convergent as it may seem; education situation may differ from country to country, and even within the same country.
The financial crisis in Europe is affecting how teachers and students go about their teaching and learning practice. I would say however that schools of international finances and business administration failed to see that this crisis was going to happen for such a long time. Maybe European and North American investors are leaving Europe to set up their businesses in China where labor is cheaper. I would add that European teachers and students need to think globally to revitalize their localities.
Economic crisis is not main reason of education and science problems but implementation of regulations, which forcibly try to count science / researchers and education, that is main cause of crisis in that area
We teachers and professors have to think creatively but politicians are the ones who can't think of a way out. Their only creative answer is: cut backs. Why don't they reduce what they make monthly to a minimum salary? I believe that crisis if it exists begins with the word c... and it is not to cut back.
Yes, all levels of education is suffering from the crisis. In Europe there is the European Trade Union Committee for Education as one of the most important negotiation parter to European Commission in this topic works on the crisis and fight against the crisis. This organization writes papers, opinions, makes mini-surveys in European countries and according to the answers coming from European countries ETUCE sends its opinions to European Commission. About ETUCE please find the Prezi presentation, here:
In Hungary, particularly, there have been budget cuts in higher education sector. The salaries of higher education staff were frozen from 2008. And the other fringe benefits such as "meal tickets" were taken away in many institutions. About the Hungarian situation you can follow the information also in the Prezi presentation, here:
Every day, many many European countries are suffering under the European crisis, and I think that it is mean a crisis for education, culture, economy, agriculture and forestry in Europe and more than it .
@ Stefan Svetsky, thanks a lot for your opinion given to us! Okay, I asked, in order to get opinions from different intellectual in Europe and beyond, but this does not mean that I might share that same opinion with the purpose of the question or your own opinion or another. Anyway my opinion and others will be different or the same with you and I thank you again!
Dear Prof Bashkim, I believe that European countries are suffering a crisis in education when not all students achieve the required grade or are able to graduate in 4 years at varsity. But the problem is not only in Europe. In the US, many students need 6 years to complete the Bachelor degree, when they should finish in 4 years. It's also the same here in Asian countries. So the standard has been lowered in certain places.
There is an agriculture and forestry crisis when the agriculture is not sustainable. Often there is excessive fertilizers being used. And in forestry, the practice isn't sustainable when the rate of re-forestation lags behind clearing the forests for agriculture, and for building townships. Again other countries share the same problem, and we suffer the consequences of severe flooding. Thanks.
Dear colleagues, I am sending my greetings to you and at the same time thank you for your opinion that you gave to us!
