Research Gate (RG) scores are computed based on a researcher's publications, answers to questions, questions asked, and followers. Regarding publications, one of the factors considered is citation. Recently a researcher raised an issue that bothers on the proliferation of false citations in both international and local journals. However, such false citations count once the articles which bear them are uploaded on RG. Answers to questions can raise someone's RG scores once they are recommended irrespective of how meaningful they are to the question being asked. A thought-provoking question whether in a researcher's field or not, can also enhance someone's RG score, likewise follower-ship which may be for reasons other than someone's outstandingness in his or her field. To what extent can we rely on RG score in rating researchers?
