I have 3-4 PWM converters , output is 3 phase 400 V AC 50 Hz. Now I want to connect them in parallel, to increase the output kVA rating. So a decoupling choke is required at the output side to limit the circulating current due to parallel connection. Now my concern is if 3 phase choke is better here or 3 single phase choke? Here the purpose of choke is to limit circulating current, hence if here common mode inductance is required or what should be the deciding criteria to dimention choke ?
@Richa prasad, what is the filter that you are using? LC or LCL?
Generally the inverter o/p is connected filter inductor and then a parallel capacitor. If your control scheme has virtual impedence implemented in it.. then the choke current is sensed and in case of circulating current, the inner current loop( if you have one) will limit it to some extent. Common mode choke is taken into account if there is presence of noise and if attenuation is required, if system has not much EMI presence then i dont think common mode is required. If ur loads are non linear, having high value choke will also end up distorting voltage at PCC. In any event, having single phase chokes can reduce the proximity effect due to flux linkage as you can manipulate the physical separation.
Bijit Dey I am using LC filter. Yes, high frequency noise is taken care by this LC filter. So after C again L (single phase) is connected to reduce circulating current. Thankyou for the explaination, now I understand the reason.
