Thoughts on the qCycler from QuantaBio?

We're a new lab and we're considering buying the qCycler (http://www.quantabio.com/products-pcr-instrumentation-q) as an inexpensive, fast, workhorse solution for routine qPCR in the lab with the option of using more sophisticated shared Roche and ABI instruments when necessary. Has anyone used the qCycler or heard good/bad things about it?

Which reagent is best among 'Dimethylglyoxime" and "Dithiothreitol" for spectroscopic determination of Nickel ?

What I think is Dithiothreitol. As it is water-soluble and does not form a precipitate. But, the thing is it contains sulphur which is quite hazardous to aquatic animals.
