Multiple stakeholders represent manifold variations in their access to clients, (final) beneficiaries or target groups - this type of naming is a difference in itself, regardless from the status of development. I see putting pressure on either is about the reluctance to change towards more sustainable practices. Pressure mounts with opposing such change. As developed countries have rules & regulations that can be put in force, less developed ones may have other means to bypass such, so I would check it out case-by-case i.e. country by country.

As far as adoption of sustainable practices are concerned the expectation is/ should be the same from every stakeholder of every or any nation irrespective of the level of development. From this dimension or perspective the statement/question "There is no difference on the effect of stakeholder pressure on the adoption of sustainable practices in developed versus developing countries?" appears to be valid.

Thanks Sudha Mavuri and Susane Bauer for your precious responses. so we can say that expectations accross the developed and developing countries stakeholders is the same in terms of the adoption of sustainability practices. This can be attributed to the speedy development of of some of the fast developing countries whih have strong trading relationships with the western world and are are also attracking more FDI from the developed world. The income level in these countries is rising.

Really interesting conversation. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on whether, if we assume that the degree of regulation generally decreases as you move down the 'development' spectrum of nations, there would be some sort of multiplier effect on what the same stakeholder pressure could achieve in terms of adopting sustainable practices depending on this degree of regulation?

Moreover, should the aforementioned statement consider the 'de facto' liklihood of stakeholder pressure being equal across developed-developing states? It seems to me that there is an asymmetry in the motivations to apply stakeholder pressure towards these goals of sustainable practices between developed and developing states. But I could very easily be wrong.
