When you ask about bio-inspired models for management and innovation, three key concepts come to mind:

Ecosystems, including business ecosystems, innovation ecosystems, digital ecosystems and others. James Moore popularised the term "business ecosystems" in the 1990s. Ron Adner is one of the current leading experts in the area of innovation ecosystems.

Biomimicry, in which concepts and solutions have been inspired, replicated and adapted from nature in products and services.

Industrial ecology, which is based on the idea of material flows and cycles (e.g. water, nitrogen, carbon) that Gunnar referred to, concepts from which are being implemented in the Circular Economy.

Beyond that, you can also look into evolutionary economics and complex adaptive systems for intellectual exchanges between the biological and economic/management domains.
