Theory Behind RESP command in ANSYS to Calculate the Response Spectrum from tansient shock signal?

Dear All,

Has anyone an Idea how ANSYS calculate the Response Sepctrum using the RESP command? is it FFT ? I hope someone has describtion of it or found the Mathematical formulation anywhere.

If not, Do you know how to transform shock signal in the time domain to PSD signal in the frequency domain?

It can be done using FFT even in excel. You can use fourier analysis pack of excel to convert time history to response spectrum.
