many patient come with out nay symptoms or sings for corona infection, they come to clinic with only congestion on pharynges and they clinically diagnosis as corona infection is that right ???? can you explain that i do not think that its right
I think it is not right as only pharyngeal congestion cannot be taken as the first provisional diagnosis for COVID-19. Congestion in the pharynx can be a symptom which can happen in sore throat infection due to viral or bacterial etiology. It has to be accompanied with other symptoms like running nose, fever and ansomia for the person to be considered for COVID-19.
commonest is sore throat and headache. While the other reported ENT manifestations include pharyngeal erythema , nasal congestion , runny nose or rhinorrhea , upper respiratory tract infection (URTI), and tonsil enlargement.
Aroop that is the point in this case the most doctor know desided that pharanyal congestion as covide 19 infection and that is not true its can be missdiagnosis
Indeed, pharyngeal congestion is not necessarily a coronavirus infection. I think it is the pyschosis of the disease that explains the situation we are facing. There are many other infectious and non-infectious respiratory tract pathologies that cause pharyngeal congestion. The other respiratory viruses (Rhinovirus, respiratory syncithial virus (RSV), adenovirus, influenza virus, pneumovirus, etc. have been forgotten for some time).
The SARS CoV2 has spikes made of glycoprotein, which has affinity with the ACE2 receptors. This ACE2 receptor is most commonly found in lungs, heart, blood vessels, followed by kidney, liver and git.. In lungs it is highly abundant, and it helps in gaseous exchange across the lungs and blood vessels. Also, virus have tendency to go into latency phase in the lymphoid tissue (tonsils/ pharynx most commonly involved by the respiratory route). Hence, most common presentation is of the respiratory system followed by others.
