The scientific medical community is corrupted becaus few people are in the position to make significant changes, i.e. Paradygm shifts. A lot of researcher do research and publish papers which are not important if not unuseful which are read by few other non important individuals, while the people which could signficant changes are paid by big pharma to mantain the current situation in which the only medical research is pursued is the biochemical and or genetic one ignoring for example biomechanical research because big pharma can’t sell biomechanical treatments
As long as greedy researchers are present who are convinced to help the big pharma company products with twisted research outcomes , it remains as corruptive.

Well, the usual thing in human establishments. There are people who take advantage of their position, and others who don't. Not more corrupted, but science is taught as being a shiny ideal, while it is the result of subjectivity and funding priorities. I understand the disappointment when one realizes that these means are part and parcel of any science.
One way to get around this is to deal with patient associations, which of course have more or less the same issues, but are a way to go around the medical research establishment. Basically, if you can't enter through the door, try the windows (several). 😁
