I am measuring particle density of atmospheric pressure plasma.
When there is a density gradient in particles, it is common to use LIF method for measurement, but is it possible to use absorption spectroscopy with spatial resolution?
If it is possible, please give me some suggestion to be considered.
I am using a incoherent LED light (300-310 nm) as a reference light, so I am considering that an iris is necessary to create collimated light.

In principle, spectromicroscopy with UV-Vis or IR absorption ispossible, but I don't think it is suitable for plasma analysis. In the end, a plasma has a very low density of relevant species, even if the reactor operates at high pressures. For that reason the contrast in absorption spectroscopy is typically way too low. With LIF or OES on the other hand, you get pretty high contrasts which is why these are common for plasma analysis. Additionally, they are much easier to implement in the reactor because absorption requires a precise 180° viewport geometry while for LIF other angles are possible and OES requires only one viewport.
Are you talking about remote measurement or you can deploy your sensor in the medium? Also, what is the spatial resolution you are considering and the size of the sample?
