What are the factors of global competitiveness of the national agro-industry? Is there a model or models by which it can be determine and compare the competitiveness of this particular industry? I'm looking for literature references which specifically refer to this model or models.

there are soo many factors and each factor is country specific based on protectionism of infant industry, free trade, phytosanitary restrictions, demand and supply, inflation control etc. For example if you Google by country specific, eg. Australian poultry industry or south African imports of poultry, you will get the models these countries are using to support domestic ago-industry growth and its challenges.

The European Union sponsored a research project into the competitiveness of European food chains called COMPETE http://www.compete-project.eu/. Particularly the working paper on the Publications tab by Gorton, Hubbard and Ferto provides a good overview of the literature on competitiveness of agro-food chains.

You may also use the revealed comparative advantage approach to check if you chains are internationally competitive or not. If they are competitive, they should be exporters (as by David Ricardo).

There are many factors that may affect the country’s ability to successfully compete in the world markets. You can see the attached study which focuses on three determinants that may help us identify key elements, shaping Jordan’s competitive capacity in the critical and growing sector of agricultural exports, namely; relative prices (Al’assar, 2004), relative instability of production (Hassan et al., 2005), and efficiency of export performance (Hassan et al., 2005).
