I coded all my PhD transcribed semi structured interviews manually. I did 23 interviews (22 participants) and reviewed my coding structure after every 6 interviews.

If you mean 'coding' within research, then literally, anything can be coded.

I also am not sure what you are coding. Is it the original texts? If so, then you certainly can code them.

Yes, you can manually code. I prefer to manually code rather than using automated software. However, it is more time consuming.

If you have open questions ,you can code its manually.

Good luck with your coding and your research. I agree with the RG members about manual coding.

I also found that transcribing the recordings and everything else carried out manually made me much more aware of what my participants had told me.

I had a few recorded interviews transcribed by others and checked them by me, listening to the recording while I read the transcript, but did not get nearly as familiar with what was said, how it was said and other details not apparent on the transcript.
