Thank you for the kind words about VL. The 10th edition is scheduled for publication in October 2017. I think you'll like it; in addition to a great deal of information that's new since the 9th edition, it will be in full color throughout and the price will be substantially lower than the price of the previous editions from Pearson. We'll also have a web site with citations for all of the new sources in this edition as well as many sources for information carried over from previous editions, frequently updated links to news about vertebrate biology, and in-class active-learning ideas contributed by users of the book.
