EAP is English for Academic Purposes
ESP - is English for Special Purposes
Actually, ESP is English for Specific Purposes (sometimes it is also referred to as Special Purposes). In fact, these are courses that target development of skills that students need in academic work (reading scholarly papers, writing research articles, research proposals , communicating with colleagues orally and in a written form, and giving presentations at conferences. ESP is meant for preparing people for professional communication in English.
As for me, the best way to teach ESP and EAP students is to pay attention to their needs. I mean, when lectures do not just propose them the material we think might be useful for them, but prepare something they might need for sure in there future professional life. For example, when I am teaching prospective teachers I teach them how to read the articles in English in order to gain the linguistic-and-methodical experience. Or, during our classes we study the vocabulary they might need in order to use it during their future classes with children (lesson vocabulary). While listening classes we listen to lectures where prospective teachers may take something to develop their linguistic-and-methodical competence.
And you can implement easily this approach to work with any student.

I think that social media may include in collaborative learning in Second language learning cases. In social media groups we may get instant feedback from our colleagues or teachers, time and space doesn't matter. Through this, we may get good results.

If you have any good ones, I'd be interested. My thesis was about collaborative real-time writing offline, but I'm interested in the technological possibilities of online collaboration. Those two texts provide some thinks to think about. It's not all positive. It's worth studying, though.
