hi there
im doing a systematic review for my dissertation " a systematic review of factors affecting publics perceptions of police legitimacy
dissertation is a systematic review
my research questions have changed a little to below:
1) Do background factors such as demographics and neighbourhood have a negative impact upon how people perceive the police?
2) Can the impact of background factors be moderated positively by media usage?
3) Can direct or indirect contact; be they police or public initiated have an overriding impact on perception? (Can good or bad contact override the affect of demographics or neighbourhood?)
4) Can the use or intervention of neighbourhood or community policing have a positive impact?
im a little stuck on how to present the results of the review
ive contacted my dissertation supervisor his response in quotes below
" Hi Richard, I would recommend focussing on a systematic review, where you discuss the articles systematically. A meta-analysis is a quantitative tool used by some academics, but unless you feel comfortable with relatively advanced statistics (effect sizes, etc), I would put my attention on the systematic review part.
1-the study extraction sheet will help you to organize the results
2-I would focus on a systematic review, and you should look at ones that have been published. You will see the types of things reported in the result section.
3-The literature review (front-end) should contextualize the need for the systematic review, and should definitely justify the factors you include.
Hope this helps,
Steve"

!You want to focus on themes; if you discuss the results of each study separately, you will just being doing a summary. The key is to address (and answer) the research questions you laid out. Again, I would look at existing systematic reviews for more details.
.
You should have a table that addresses the risk of bias and the findings of each study (you will see this in other reviews’ results). Also —might you include the qualitative research that has been done? Not sure how many studies there are, but this will make for an interesting discussion."
essentially the main question is how best to present my results for my systematic review?
with my research questions how would i answer them from the studies ive collected
any feedback much appreciated
thanx
